Drawing practice

I've wanted to work on eyes, mouths, and facial expressions/shading.  This is a practice tracing to see if I could do the types of shading I was hoping for and learning how to detail eyes/mouths, etc. It didn't turn out very well but it is a slight improvement and it helped me understand some of the techniques involved.  I'll probably have to do a lot of these before I start figuring it out.

  1. Hi Fur - In the name of constructive criticism, I think you've got the lips too thick, the eyes too wide open, and I'm not sure just what you're doing with the nose. The eyebrows are very good and the chin is okay, but the neck is a bit too thick. The cheek coloration and highlighting must be very hard with the tools with which you're working.

Keep it up - you are getting closer and closer.

  2. Thank you for the feedback, Lady Grey.

Lips, eyes, and nose are definitely struggles for me. I watched a 35 minute youtube tutorial on how to draw eyes with the program I am using but my lack of a background in any kind of drawing/sketching is definitely hurting me in this.

Shading and highlighting are quite difficult, especially without the fundamentals of how to do proper face shading while drawing with a pencil and paper.

I'll keep on trying and hopefully see some improvements in the not-too-distant future.
