My Need to Write

Today I am realizing just how badly I need to write in order to maintain my emotional balance.  When I write regularly it keeps me from being overwhelmed by the aching and longing.  When I take a day off I really start to feel things build up.

I'm not really sure why this happens, but I believe much of it has to do with how it forces me to think.  I try (not always successfully) to make sure I have something worth saying.  I think it ends up being both cathartic and a boost to my self-confidence.

Part of why I get so frustrated with the blogger feed lag is that it has become part of my daily routine to wake up and read and respond to comments.  It fuels my day.  When it doesn't update in a timely manner, e.g. I post at 11pm and it goes live at 10am, I miss out on my morning crew.  I miss out on waking up to comments and having to stimulate my mind right out of the gate. It feels good and I feel the support of many people in that way.

On another note, if you enjoy Lady Grey's blog as much as I do please make sure to leave some comments on her Vacation posts (or other posts).  Those didn't receive nearly the response they should have gotten.

  1. Your two posts from today aren't on my blog roll. I know you said you tried everything but, did you try scheduling a post? Or clearing your browser history, or a different browser all together? I would be frustrated too! I haven't noticed if this has been happening to me...

    1. Hi Misty.

I have tried almost everything to get them to refresh faster. Digging into it, it seems the problem is with Blogger's RSS refresh or feedburner (they show up in my Wordpress reader way earlier).

I may try scheduling the post next time for like 3 minutes in the future.

These 2 posts that just popped up are from ~5 hours ago.

  2. Thank you for the shout out, fur, and double thank you for fixing the format on my blog. What a difference it makes! I'm glad that you NEED to write. Your readers benefit from your conclusions, and you have too much to say to just let your ideas lay fallow. Did you try my method for posting quickly? It continues to work for me.

    1. Thank you, Lady Grey. Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you were able to get your comments formatted. I have tried your method for posting quickly and while it works sometimes, it still seems like luck. I must be choosing bad times to post to get the feed to lag so badly.

  3. I need to write when I feel upset. I used to write a lot more for this reason. It helps me to organize my thoughts. Sometimes I am haunted by a story that has to get written or it keeps following me around. You are not alone in feeling a need to write. As a fan I do benefit from you writing daily ;-)

    1. Thank you, Miss Lily.

I don't write as much when I am upset, I think mostly because I don't wish to dwell too much in the feelings. I seem to write a lot more when I am feeling good but I do write quite a bit when I am confused or have nagging feelings to sort out.
